Pedestal
Orbe is a single disc of ash balanced on a turned pedestal — a table with no edge, no apron, and no visible means of support. The top is cut from one board, hand-selected for a close, even grain, then lacquered so the surface reads as water rather than wood. The pedestal is turned in a single operation and seated into the top with a tapered mortise; the whole piece can be lifted by one person and re-set without tools. It seats six without crowding, eight without compromise.
